Courtney Murtha, M.S., M.A, CMPC

Courtney holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology from The University of North Carolina-Greensboro. She began her work in athletic mental performance psychology with various top-level athletes and performers at the collegiate DI and elite youth level. Courtney has worked closely with soccer, lacrosse, tennis, swimming, basketball, and football. She is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings as well as various athletic environments. She is clinically passionate about identity development, perfectionism, sport injury rehabilitation, and substance use.

Courtney is passionate about staying active and grounded through sports and movement. She grew up playing lacrosse and continued briefly into the collegiate level before transitioning to the sidelines as a high school lacrosse coach, where she was honored as the 2021 Central Piedmont 4A Coach of the Year. Her athletic journey later shifted toward endurance sports, and in 2024, she became a finisher in the New York City Marathon, putting her own mental performance strategies into action along the way. 

Courtney takes a whole-person approach to both therapy and mental performance consulting, recognizing that each individual’s path is shaped by their unique experiences, values, and goals. Her practice is grounded in a person-centered and strengths-based approach, honoring individual differences and personal strengths. She offers a holistic and collaborative experience, using an integrated style to meet each person where they are in a compassionate and culturally competent environment.
